Raw vs slab
What raw copies, 9s and 10s of one exact card have actually sold for, what grading it would cost on today's published fees, and the gem rate the spread would have to hit to break even. Not the gem rate it will hit — nobody can tell you that, and this page will not pretend to.
We never predict whether a card will gem. No validated model exists for it, so the honest version is the inversion: break-even is arithmetic you can check, and a gem prediction is a guess dressed as a number. Compare the break-even rate below against your own read of the card.
Cost assumptions, as of 2026-08-23
Grading costs are ASSUMPTIONS, read from the grader's published schedule on 2026-08-23 and not re-checked since. Fee schedules change several times a year. Re-read the current schedule before spending money on the strength of anything below.
- Regular tier, per card: $79.99 as of 2026-08-23
- The entry point for ordinary single-card submissions. Declared value ceiling $1,500.
- Value Bulk tier, per card: $24.99 as of 2026-08-23
- Collectors Club membership and a minimum batch size. Not available for a one-off submission. Declared value ceiling $200.
- Handling, per submission: $10.00 as of 2026-08-23
- Charged once per submission and split across the cards in it — which is most of why a one-off submission costs what it does.
- Return shipping and insurance, per submission: $15.00 as of 2026-08-23
- Also once per submission, also amortised across the batch.
- Declared-value surcharge: 2% above $499 as of 2026-08-23
- Applied to the declared value of the card, not to the fee.
- Marketplace take rate on the sale: 13.35% as of current setting
- An approximation of the marketplace's trading-card fee plus its per-order fixed fee — a setting in this app, not a figure read from your account.
To run the same arithmetic on prices you found yourself rather than on this card's stored sales, use the break-even calculator.
Centering calculator
Measure the border on each side — any unit, as long as both sides of a pair use the same one — and this states the ratio graders write on a label. It is arithmetic on your measurements and stops there.
- This is the ratio of your two measurements and nothing else. We do not convert it into a grade: centering is one of four criteria, and we hold no verified copy of any grader's current tolerance table to check it against.
- Front and back are measured separately by graders. A card can be well centred on the front and fail on the back.
- A measurement taken from a photograph inherits the photograph's angle. Measure the card, in hand, against its own borders.
What this page will not do
It will not predict a gem rate. The break-even figure is what the spread requires, not what the card will do. Two cards with the same break-even rate can be wildly different bets, and the difference is your read of the card — corners, edges, surface, centering, and whether the raw copy you are looking at was ever worth submitting.
It will not translate between graders. Each grader's slabs trade in their own market at their own prices. We hold no comp evidence for a mapping between them, so none is published — and a page that quietly treated one grader's 9.5 as another grader's 10 would be inventing the most consequential number on it.
It will not read your photographs. There is no photo analysis on this page. An image tool could propose centering or surface observations, but it cannot verify authenticity, establish an exact identity, or guarantee a grade — and we are not willing to publish a machine's guess about your card next to arithmetic you can check. Measure the borders yourself above.
